From reading other comments here we did not feel it as strongly as people further from the epicentre. House shook enough for us to go outside where ground continued to shake and water in pool became choppy. Animals not affected. No damage. No panic.

A definite swaying of the house and surrounds which lasted a full minute. Despite being very close to the coast (and nearest point of land to the epicentre), we did not seem to feel the tremors as badly as others reporting from further away.

My first earthquake ever. My partner felt the body waves, she grew up with earthquakes. She noticed the quake first before the Greek employees. Swimming pool spilled over slightly. Very low frequency surface waves with Rayleigh wave maybe below 1Hz. No damage. Weird, drunken feeling when coda waves continued until at least 30 sec.

As we are from the netherlands we are Noobs regarding to anything related with earthquakes. We are on holidays in Crete and at the time of the quake i was sitting with my son on the couch. The first few seconds i tought my son was moving the couch, a second later i tought it was the washing machine speeding up. A second after that i saw the pilar in the room swaying and came to the conclusion we were experiencing a quake. We moved outside but at that time the earthquake was already done. I have the feeling the quake itself lasted for only 10 seconds.

Four individuals in the party, two felt the quake, two did not.  the two who felt the quake were close together, the other two who did not feel the quake were also together, but were ten meters distant from the two who felt the quake.  The two who felt the quake noted the car also swayed a bit.  We were on a road 1,500 meters above sea level and at a roadside spring.

Very scary. We were on the 3rd floor of our hotel and it started shaking in many directions. My wife and I ran under a door frame. It felt like it lasted 45 seconds or so.
